Principal’s Message

Dear Parents/Guardians,

 

I want to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to the 2023-2024 school year. I am the Proud Principal, Dr. Crystal Shirley, of Wilbur Charter for Enriched Academics, Home of the Dolphins and Schools for Advanced Studies.  It is my privilege and honor to be a part of such an amazing learning community!

 

We have been working hard all summer long to plan for distance learning.  Together with our dedicated staff, we strive to make connections with students to help them feel accepted and valued.  The Wilbur Charter Motto: “Dedicated, Outstanding, Lifelong Learners, Prepared Problem Solvers, Happy to Help, Innovative and Inquisitive, Noble, and Striving to Do Their Best” will continue to guide our Mission in providing our students with a collaborative challenging learning environment that encourages high expectations for success through developmentally appropriate instruction that allows for individual differences and learning styles.  A stronger emphasis will also be placed on Social Emotional Learning in all our Preschool for All Learner classes and Transitional Kindergarten through Fifth Grade classrooms.  Whether we are learning in person or remotely at home, our goal is to encourage active student engagement to foster a lifetime love for learning.

 

During this school year, we will continue to build upon and refine our foundation of good work and many worthwhile traditions, with none being more important than continuing to build upon our tradition of excellence in education.

 

I am looking forward to another exciting year of learning and growing with our students, working with a professional staff, and our parents and community members. I am looking forward to a very positive and productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. However, for our students to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. Continuing to build a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and I want you to know that we, at Wilbur Charter for Enriched Academics, will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities.
